Formerly listed as Elymus.Exceptionally beautiful steel-blue foliage. Sharp edged, arching leaves grow to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Spread 2 to 3 feet. Spikes of tan flowers bloom July through August. Spreads quickly through underground rhizomes to form a large patch. Plant in average well drained soil or poor soil where nothing else will grow. Drought and salt spray tolerant. May be used to stabilize steep slopes due to its spreading nature. Decorative when planted in large tubs or pots. Its extraordinary blue color is intensified in mass planting. Also good for naturalizing.
