Seed source Indiana County, PA. Also known as Rum Cherry, as the fruit is used in making cherry liqueurs. Grows to 50 to 80 feet. Spread 35 to 50 feet. Dense foliage with green lustrous leaves, single white flowers in late May producing black cherries in August. Grows best in rich, deep moist soil. One of the best native American species for
its wide geographical range. A good ornamental, turning
yellow to red in fall. It has been highly prized in furniture making since colonial times and is an excellent firewood. Fruit provides food for many small animals. No shipments to CA,CO,ID,OR,WA,CANADA.
