Description

This hydrangea stands out in the landscape not just because of its terrific lacecap type bloom, but because of its ever changing foliage. The heavily toothed foliage emerges in spring with red, central veins and petioles attached to red stems that provide a contrast to the deep green leaves that don’t fade in summer. Flowers, 3 to 4 inches in diameter, emerge in summer, white with a hint of pink and lacecap with larger sterile flowers surrounding small fertile ones. As summer progresses, the flowers age to pink and finally to a stunning burgundy red which enhances the red present in the stems of the leaves. As fall approaches, the foliage turns burgundy red. Great accent plant or maybe used in mass plantings. Makes an excellent cut flower.
