Commonly called Common Juniper. A slow growing, upright, columnar, evergreen shrub. Grows to a height of 3 to 5 feet with a spread of 1 to 2 feet. In spring the foliage emerges bright gold, retaining its warm color in summer thru fall, then changing to bluish green in the winter.
Prefers medium moisture, well drained soils in full sun. This juniper will tolerate a wide range of soils, including very poor, rocky soil. Drought and cold tolerant. Deer resistant. Low maintenance, no pruning required. Native.
A perfect specimen plant. Also use in cottage or rock gardens, containers and for foundation plantings. An excellent addition in a mixed border due to its subdued gold color.
