A medium fast growing upright, rounded multi-stemmed evergreen shrub. Grows to a height of 10 to 15 feet with comparable spread. The oval leaves are leathery, dark green and glossy with gray-brown fuzzy undersides. In late spring, yellowish-white flowers appear on large flat topped clusters. The blooms are abundant and mildly fragrant. Small, dark blue berries form in June that mature to glossy black in September. This low maintenance shrub attracts birds and is not bothered by pests or rabbits. Tolerates heat, shade, humidity and wet soils. Prefers rich, very acidic well drained soil. An excellent specimen or background plant.
